Union Square area is becoming New York’s Cheese District

Manhattan’s getting a lot stinkier.

And for cheese lovers, that’s a good thing.

Two gleaming new shops near Union Square are showcasing fancy “artisan” cheeses that have epic backstories and eye-popping price points.

Beecher’s Handmade Cheese and Bedford Cheese Shop join local big cheeses Whole Foods and Eataly — both of which boast huge cheese selections — and the Union Square Greenmarket’s array of indie cheesemakers.

With the fancy cheese counter at the opulent new Agata & Valentina outpost on University Place, you could now dub this downtown neighborhood the city’s new Cheese District.

Salutation Recipes

I'm trying to keep a log of all the things we cook which taste really lovely. You know what it's like: you tweak and tweak a recipe until it's barely recognisable and then wonder how you used to make it. And it will also save a lot of time and bits of paper when it comes to sharing those recipes with friends.
