Marieke Penterman’s Burning Nettle Gouda to be used on ‘CSI:NY’

Congrats Marieke!

“It started in late August when Steve Ehlers, who owns Larry’s Market in Brown Deer, got a call from the owner of the Artisan Cheese Gallery in Studio City, Calif., saying the producers from “CSI: NY” were looking for Marieke Burning Nettle Gouda.

Ehlers said he was out, but he called Marieke Penterman, who makes the cheese and owns Holland’s Family Cheese in Thorp, asking her whether she had any left.

“I had four wheels of it left in my aging room, but the problem was they were reserved by one of our customers who had already placed a deposit on them. So I had to call him up and see if I could buy back my own cheese,” Penterman said.”

Salutation Recipes

I'm trying to keep a log of all the things we cook which taste really lovely. You know what it's like: you tweak and tweak a recipe until it's barely recognisable and then wonder how you used to make it. And it will also save a lot of time and bits of paper when it comes to sharing those recipes with friends.
