Learn about cheese, chocolate and more food pairings at Isthmus Beer & Cheese Fest 2013 – Isthmus | The Daily Page

VIA: Isthmus Beer & Cheese Fest is almost upon us, but if you hurry, there is still time to get tickets! On Saturday, January 19, more than 80 of Wisconsin’s finest brewers, cheesemakers, and other vendors will showcase over hundreds of their delectable creations at the Alliant Energy Center’s Exhibition Hall.

Not only will the fest feature some of the tastiest beer and cheese offerings from across the state, but it will also offer an opportunity to meet the experts in the crafts of brewing and cheese-making. You will have a chance to learn about how to best pair beers and cheeses, and learn why certain beers go better with certain cheeses, chocolates and other foods.

The fest’s “2013 Special Guest Brewer” John Legnard of Blue Moon Brewing Company will share some of the specialty brews they’re working on in Colorado, and show how to pair them with tasty treats. Sara Hill, culinary manager of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, will provide insights on how to best pair a variety of cheeses with beers, which will be presented with help by Otto Dilba, co-owner of Ale Asylum. Finally, Gail Ambrosius of Ambrosius Chocolatier and will orchestrate an delicious chocolate and beer pairing presentation with Vintage Brewing Company.

All of the pairing presentations are free to attend with regular or premium admission to the fest. Seating and sampling will be limited for these special sessions. Take a look at the schedule, and don’t miss out on this opportunity to listen, learn, and enjoy:

1:00 p.m.: Doors open to Premium Tasting ticket-holders.isthmus

2:00 p.m.: Doors open to all ticket-holders.

2:30 p.m: Beer pairing presentation with the 2013 special guest brewer John Legnard from Blue Moon Brewing.

3:30 p.m.: Cheese and beer pairing presentation with the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board culinary manager Sara Hill and Ale Asylum co-owner Otto Dilba.

4:30 p.m.: Chocolate and beer pairing presentation with Gail Ambrosius of Ambrosius Chocolatier and Vintage Brewing.

It all happens from 2-6 p.m on Saturday, January 19 at the Alliant Energy Center’s Exhibition Hall.

Buy your tickets today online or at the following ticket vendor locations: Isthmus Publishing Company, Star Liquor, Fromagination, any Steve’s Liquor location, and Vintage Brewing Company. Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 the day of the event. Premium Tasting tickets are $75. Better hurry, as the fest sells out every year, and tickets won’t last much longer!
